Oh what a Celebration we had today!

Shawn and I had such an amazing day yesterday! Before he left for Band Camp the 2nd week, he surprised me with tickets to see "Wicked" in Lansing! I have seen it twice in Chicago and Shawn has only seen it one time. It is probably my most favorite musical ever! He wanted me to have something to look forward to while he was gone. He's so thoughtful that way...:)

So, yesterday morning I had to play at Oakhill again and Shawn was going to play offertory as well as throughout the service. Shawn's parents picked up the girls at the church so they could take them for the day and night! This is their first time spending the night at Grandma Sylvia's and Pa's. They were very excited and when they were in their car, they said "Bye Mommy!". I guess it's good that they usually don't cry when we leave them!
We left the service early so we could get to the show by 1pm.

WOW! It was incredible! It was hard not to have expectations from the Chicago show and expect to hear the same voices and acting. It blew us out of the water! We were in the very top row at the Wharton Center but right in the center. The seats were a little crowded so my thigh was touching the woman's next to me. That is my only complaint. She actually moved after intermission so I had a little bit more breathing room!
Anyway, they had a very small orchestra but you would not have known it because it was amazing. Their sound was so tight and full. The diction from the singers was so clear and the singing was outstanding. Elphaba(the wicked witch of the west), and Glinda(the good witch) were so good. Their voices blended so well and they sounded very similar to the original cast. You know their good when you want to hear them sing all day! Not to downplay the Chicago cast because they were awesome to, but this cast was equal or almost better!
It was 3 1/2 hours of complete enjoyment and we didn't even realize that is was that long! I had chills pretty much the whole way through the show because it was so good!

After the show we made our way home and found an Olive Garden on Cascade to eat dinner. Mmmmm......."Wicked" and Italian food....what could be better!
We also HAD to stop at Babies R Us to look at double strollers. The jury is still out on that one! There are 2 I'm trying to decide between..anyway...

Then we had to go to Meijer..kid-free..:) for a few groceries and of course had to stop at Cold Stone on the way home!

It was such a great day of spending time with Shawn. It has been a long 2 weeks and it was so nice to have uninterrupted conversation and some quiet time!
Shawn's parents have the girls until tonight so I am really looking forward to my day! Thank you Mom and Dad! We REALLY appreciate you watching the girls!
I am planning on doing some major cleaning and some laundry. Maybe organize something..:)
I know, cleaning, when I could do something fun. Actually, I haven't been able to clean my house thoroughly in a while so it will be so nice to get it done without being interrupted 25 million times! Ahhhh...quiet!

Shawn is working at another camp this week. It is just M-W from 1pm-5pm. The Lord provides in unexpected ways! My brother is getting married on Friday so we have a busy, but fun week!

I'm off to clean the bathroom in quiet...:)
