The devotional I am reading is called the Heart of God and it is based on the Parables of Jesus. I try to find time at least 3 times a week for some quality time with God. It is hard to discipline myself to get up a little early and invest in my relationship with my Creator! This morning I actually had a few moments before the girls woke up to read my devotional.
Today the passage was about the woman who lost her coin. What I didn't know was that during the time of Jesus, women wore a frontlet on their brow called a semedi. It held 10 coins and it signified a woman's betrothal or marriage relationship. It showed the significance of the fellowship the woman had with her husband. That's why she looked so hard to find one of her lost coins! It meant so much to her because of the symbolism of it. It reminded me of how much God loves us! He looks for us and cares for us even more than the woman did for her coin. We symbolize his most precious creation and the relationship we can have with him.
