Our little Sweet Pea is 5 years old today!

I can hardly believe that 5 years ago today, our sweet little girl was born. She was born a month early at 8 lbs. 13 oz. and 20 inches. We had tried for 2 years to get pregnant with her. It was a very difficult journey but the amazing thing about our God is that He is always with us and He always answers. I remember right before we found out we were pregnant, and after some fertility drugs, God whispered to me "It's time". That was one of the first times I have heard the voice of God so clearly. He chose to answer in His time and it was just perfect for us. It's hard for me to not look back on that experience and her first year of life without a little sense of sadness. I had post-partum depression for about the first year of her life. I don't remember much about her milestones. I try not to think negatively about that time in my life because it was another step in my relationship with Christ.
I look at her now and I am filled with such complete joy that I can hardly contain it! She is a reminder to me of God's faithfulness, His love, His care, and His grace. Her name means "protected by grace" and her whole life has been about that! I see hope and joy spilling out from her life into mine and to others around her.

Here are some things that I love about her:
She is very thoughtful and always looks around to see how she can help.
She is constantly giving hugs and kisses to us and especially her brother!
She is very creative and loves to color, do crafts, and create things.
I will always remember the day she asked Jesus in her heart and I see his light shining in her.
She is absolutely obsessed with skirts and wants to dress up every day.
She is constantly teaching me how to love, how to be patient, and how to show interest in things.

Happy Birthday Sweet Pea!

After a somewhat emergency C-section, Adrianna Grace came into this world! I had pre-eclampsia and diabetes hence the reason for the c-section. I was almost in a diabetic coma since my blood sugar dropped so low. Shawn said he saw my doctor leaning over the nurses station with his head in his hands because he didn't
know what to do! I had been induced to try and deliver naturally but my blood pressure was sky-high and he wasn't sure her lungs would be ready at 36 weeks. I told my doctor that we trusted his judgement and God kept telling me that everything would be fine. As you can see from the picture, her lungs worked fine!

I was in the hospital for 5 days, came home for 1 1/2 days and went back in for 3 days! Because she was early she could not maintain her own body temp. and she also was not eating well or going to the bathroom well. After that stay in the hospital she has been relatively healthy!

We are looking forward to seeing how God will use her life to glorify Him!
