Life has been pretty busy around here so my blog is one of the things that gets neglected!
Honestly, I really know of only 3 people who read this consistently and I already talk to them daily!:)
Anyway...I recently had a follow-up appointment with my Endocrinologist and most everything is moving along as expected. I have blood tests once a month to check my thyroid levels. Based on those results, my medication is increased. Then I wait a month to see if that dose is working right, if not, there is another adjustment and then another 4 weeks of waiting. My energy is better than it was and slowly getting back to normal. It's just a matter of waiting in between the blood tests and trying to make it through the day without a nap! I have a follow-up appointment with my ENT tomorrow and I go back to my Endo in November. I will also have another ultrasound at that time. I am still dealing with some healing from the surgery and some other physical issues that are from a low thyroid. I'm looking forward to the day when I can function normally!
Another issue has been an injury to my leg. It happened the week of my treatment and I have been going to Physical Therapy 2x a week for about 3 weeks. It is a combination of a pulled/torn muscle and inflammation. Very annoying when you can't walk very well or very far! I am praying that as my levels get back to normal, this pain will go away.
I really am just taking it one day at a time and trying to listen to what God wants to teach me throughout that day. It's about all I can handle right now!
Shawn is back full swing into Marching Band. He has been teaching at a music camp for 2 weeks during the day and he has his band rehearsals at night. There are a lot of extra gigs and events he has also.
He really enjoys his job but it is hard to be away so much. I am praying about my attitude this year and that I can have a positive way of encouraging Shawn and our kids during our long days.
Adrianna is really looking forward to being in 1st grade! I can hardly talk about it right now because it makes me kind of sad to have her gone all day. She is so ready! She is very independent and helpful and I have complete confidence that she will do well. She loves to talk to people and has already mentioned that she looks forward to meeting new friends. She has such a sweet, serving spirit!
Eliza will be home with me for another year. I am planning on doing preschool type things with her at least 1 day a week maybe 2. We will also have BSF to look forward to! We are really trying to encourage her own identity since she gets lost between Adrianna and Caleb sometimes! She is so funny and makes us laugh constantly. I don't want to squash that! I have to keep reminding myself that she is just 3 1/2 and wants to still play with dolls and have the attention.
Caleb is such a delight! He is doing really well with his glasses. He only takes them off when he is mad or doesn't have anything else to do! Since he has been been wearing them for about 5 weeks they have fixed the problems with his eyes! It is amazing how resilient the brain is and how fast it grows and changes. We go back in January for another evaluation so he has to wear them until them at least.
He is all boy! Full of energy, getting into everything, and just a barrel full of fun!
He is repeating most words we say and a few of my favorites is when he says "Mommy, please candy now". He is putting the word now at the end of most things he asks for. He can pretty much communicate what he wants and needs and we are trying to get him to do it without hitting or biting! He loves his sisters but not when they are in his personal space! He is so different from the girls and keeps me on my toes!
A verse to leave you with:
"...I will trust and not be afraid, for the Lord is my strength and song; He is my salvation. Oh, the joy of drinking deeply from the Fountain of Salvation." Isaiah 12:2,3

Still pressing on....
I haven't posted in a while and I wanted to give you all an update!
This has been an incredible journey so far. I find myself not wanting the old "normal" anymore. I don't want to forget what I have learned or forget what it felt like to be so close to my Savior that I felt such an ultimate sense of peace. A few people I see ask me how I am doing. I can tell in their faces that they want me to say "I'm great! I'm all better". They want me to hurry up and get back to normal. Honestly, I don't want to. Because "normal" is different now. The old "normal" is filled with angst, selfishness, and joylessness. I have learned so many things throughout this time and I am trying to cling to the new. I don't want to fall back into old habits. It is sometimes hard stay in the new place because our sin nature can cause us to forget to listen to God's voice and walk in His spirit. I want to be aware at all times what God delivered me from and that I need to listen to what He wants me to do next. I need to remember the places of darkness and then turn them around to light. I hope someday I can use my journey to help others. Right now it is still very raw and it is not past us yet but I feel myself moving towards that place of having a complete zest for life. A place of complete thankfulness that God took us here and He has been with us every step of the way. The passions I had before have changed. I am trying to figure out what they are now and what God wants me to do with my life!
I know this will be a daily surrendering of myself. I will need to daily commit myself to Christ and how He wants me to live. To always look and listen as I go throughout my day.
I am anxiously waiting for the day when God will show me what the purpose of this journey was.
I read this passage in Isaiah that really summed up more effectively what I am trying to convey!
"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen; to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter---when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say; Here am I. If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.
The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail."

Our Daddy!
This is the one thing we love most about you Daddy, that you spend time with us!
We love you very much!
The Lord is with me.
I was recently reading a little daily devo book by Lisa Whelchel called "Speaking mom-ese". I love reading her stuff because she has a passion for moms and the stage of life that involves little ones. She has creative ideas for discipline, and just about any other thing we deal with on a daily basis. I really like her book "Creative Correction" because there are tons of ideas and she puts a touch of humor with it too.
This recent chapter (which are short and easy to read if you have a 3 minute break!), was talking about how the Lord is our daddy. She based it off of Psalm 23 and then wrote her own version of the Psalm. Here is the original Psalm which is a great reminder where our ultimate source of life should be from!
Psalm 23
"The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside still waters,
He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness,
for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear NO evil, for you are with me.
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
Here is Lisa Whelchel's own version which reminded me again of where I need to do every day to find rest and peace.
"The Lord is my Daddy, I will be loved and adored.
I crawl up into His lap and am safely wrapped in His arms.
I lay my head against His heart and find rest for my mind, body, & soul.
I learn to trust.
I take His hand; He holds mine, and we walk together through my life.
Surely I will face fear, hurt, disappointment, and loss,
but You are bigger than any ugly monster hiding under my bed.
I will not be afraid of the Dark,
Because you are the Light.
I don't even think about tomorrow,
what I will eat, wear, or where I will live,
because you are my Abba.
I don't need to worry;
You will take good care of me-
I am your little girl!
You are the Father of my future,
and You have blessings and hope planned for me.
You enjoy giving me good gifts.
I make You smile when I dance
with giddy thanksgiving in Your presence."
I am praying this for myself and also for all of you who read this today. I pray you will be reminded of how much God loves you and that He is with you in EVERY step of your journey!

The future Mr. Professor!
Our sweet boy needed glasses! At his 18 month check-up his pediatrician noticed that his left eye wasn't quite right. She sent us to a pediatric opthomologist and she was shocked that his pediatrician caught it. If it went untreated, he could potentially start losing sight in that eye. The brain would start using his strong eye more and the weak eye could shut down. So....the first step is to wear glasses for at least a month and then reevaluate his eyes. He did pretty well for his first day of wearing them! It seems that if he is distracted, he doesn't try to take them off. I could also tell that he seems to be seeing things better.

He loved the candy we gave him when he first put them on!So cute if I do say so myself!
