Living life

Not much has been going on in the Gurk house lately! We are all pretty healthy except for a few minor colds which is a huge praise! We are just living life and trying to figure each other out.
I just finished a Beth Moore led Bible study on the Tabernacle and I have learned so much! I am going to start other one on the Psalms of Ascent. I have really been growing in my relationship with Christ and it has come through many facets. I took a class at church on spiritual gifts and I am in the process of determining where I fit to serve in church. It is very exciting! I am still formulating my thoughts on that so I'll share when I can clearly convey them.
I am getting somewhat used to living life with 3 kids and they constantly cause me to evaluate my heart. I am learning so much! I really am trying to be content in everything and it is the best place to be! It is quite freeing!

Caleb has recently been able to hold a few toys and try and get them in his mouth. He loves the Bumbo chair! Thanks to Elizabeth for letting us borrow it! He is doing great with holding his head up and loves to look around.

Eliza cracks me up! She is always doing something silly or telling a silly story. She was playing dress-up this morning and had the hat on backwards!
Her new story:
"Mommy?, I jumped in the pool and splashed. There was a crocodile in there and I spit at him. I hurt my toe."






Adrianna joined in the fun with the dress up!
(I think this hat belongs to Nichole..I need to get that back to her!)

Stinky Skunks

On the way home from my parents today we drove past a dead skunk. This brought on a 7 minute discussion about skunks. Here are a few of the questions that my little curious mind asked:
1. What is that stinky smell?
2. Are there boy and girl skunks?
3. Where is it going? (it's dead honey..)

I told the girls if they ever saw a skunk that they should just walk away so they wouldn't get sprayed. Skunks spray if they are afraid or think they are in danger.
I also told them they would have to take a bath in tomato juice if they every got sprayed.

More questions:
4. Will I like tomato juice?
5. Can I drink it?
6. Why is the smell still in our car?

A few minutes later Adrianna starts laughing and says "Ha ha, the skunk is dead so now he can't spray anyone anymore!".

Frusterrated

I woke up to both girls in my face first of all...I have been trying to enforce the rule that they cannot come out of their room until 8:00. It has been working pretty well after I remind them a few times when they get up.

There is always much whining and crying before they come out. It's usually Eliza crying and then I hear Adrianna say "I'm sorry!".

Eliza's new phrase is "I'm frusterrated". I ask her why and she says "with you!". Great...

Gotta love those cheeks! I just can't help taking pictures of our little guy!

Happy Valentine's Day!

In the past few years that we have had kids, Shawn and I decided that we were going to celebrate Valentine's Day as a family. We want to teach our kids about showing love every day but also especially on this day. I think of Valentine's Day as a day to be reminded about how we are giving love to others.

We started our day with heart shaped pancakes, bacon, and red pomegranate juice. Shawn read a few verses from I Cor. 13 from his new bible. We have been trying desperately to teach our girls that love is patient, kind, not selfish, and giving!


Shawn bought the girls balloons since they LOVE them! He also bought me some roses and a really nice card.

For lunch we had heart shaped sandwiches, Cherry 7-up, and Valentine cookies. Do you sense a red theme here?!:)




I was going to make heart shaped pizza for dinner but instead opted for the pizza already made. Way easier and I didn't want to over-kill the hearts!:)






Little Dude was happy just sleeping in his swing and trying to eat his new bib. Thanks Grandma!









I encourage anyone who reads this to make an extra effort today to show love to your family. Give them an extra hug or kiss, call them, or even just say and extra "I Love You". Small acts of kindness that show someone you thought about them could make their day!

3 months old!

Caleb is 3 months old already! He is really starting to interact with all of us and smiles at just about anything. He loves the floor gym and the swing and is pretty content anywhere.
We are still trying to get him to take a bottle. He HATES it!
Lately we have only had to get up with him 1 time at night so that has been REALLY nice!

We are just plugging along with life right now. Shawn is very busy at work so that in turn makes it busy at home since he is gone for things.
I am taking a SHAPE class at church so that I can find out my spiritual gifts. I'm interested to see what they say! The Beth Moore Bible study I am doing has one more week and then I am hoping to join another one. We are also busy with preschool activities. Adrianna LOVES it!

We are really anticipating Spring and getting outside to do more things. Enough of this trapped in the house bit! Summer is going to be a blast with all 3 kids! I won't be pregnant and I can actually participate in things. My flowers are just itching to be pruned and groomed!

I don't really have any else profound to say!

We dedicate you to the Lord....

Before Caleb was even born, Shawn and I knew he was a gift and knew we wanted to raise him to love God, and to follow Christ. This past Sunday we "officially" dedicated him to the Lord at a service at our church. Basically we are saying that we will surround him with spiritual teaching and guidance in the hopes that he will accept Jesus as his Saviour and strive to live for Him. We want him to live up to his namesake which is the mighty, faithful Caleb in the Bible. We want to make sure our relationship with Christ is strong and growing so that we can pass that on to him. This service does not guarantee his salvation, it just means that the Lord is first in our life and Caleb belongs to him, even before he was conceived! It means that we will raise him in the church and teach him how to have a personal relationship with Christ. Our prayer is that he will decide to accept Jesus in his heart and want to live for Him in everything he does.
