On Vacation!
We are almost ready to leave for our vacation! We are just waiting for the new tires to be put on our van. Oh yeah, we needed all 4! We got the rear tires replaced in '05 so I guess it's time for new ones. Tires are supposed to go up 30% by the end of August!
I can't believe all the stuff we need for 4 people for 5 days! Beds, clothes, food, entertainment, gifts, etc....
We have not been on this long of a vacation EVER, so we are really looking forward to it.
I hope you all have a nice 4th of July celebration!
As Adrianna would say..."We're going on our cation!"

Eliza LOVES Miss Patty Cake!

Eliza loves listening and watching Miss Patty Cake. If you don't know who she is, she is geared for kids and she wears a VERY COLORFUL outfit! She sings songs about Jesus and how we can be good helpers. She appeals to kids I think because she has a high-pitched voice and she is very creative. We have a CD Eliza listens to at night that she just loves. She calls her catty cake. Well, I found this doll on ebay and I had to get it! I was wondering if she would like it because every time we go to the store I show her toys to see if she likes them. She always hands every one of them back to me and says "all done". I never know if she is going to like something!
I handed her this doll and she got the biggest grin on her face and she knew right away it was catty cake! She started hugging her and singing the song that Miss Patty Cake always sings. It was adorable! She has not let go of that doll since!
Erika's Shower at Noel
We had such a great time at Erika's shower! We decided to have it at NOEL restaurant in Jamestown. Not only because it is amazing food and a great atmosphere, but we didn't have to do any cooking, setting up, or cleaning up! We had breakfast first with every kind of breakfast food imaginable. It was SO GOOD!
If you notice that everyone has a lei on. We all started with one and if anyone caught you saying the word "Erika", or "Thank-you" or any form of those words, they could take your lei away. Whoever had the most lei's at the end was the winner. It was a great ice breaker and caused many laughs! Sarah ended up winning with Erika coming in 2nd. We also did a "Getting to know Erika" quiz which her mom and sister won.
Jen read some advice and thoughts that all the women of our family wrote to Erika.
It was great to celebrate having Erika join our family and I hope she felt loved and welcomed!
She received a lot of nice gifts too.
Starting on the left of the table:
Martha (she was our wedding coordinator and is also Erika's), Erika, Jana (Erika's sister), Erika's grandma (She is 90!), My mom-in-law Sylvia, my sister-in-law Sheryl, Vonda (Erika's mom), and Sal (her hubby was the chef!)
Also starting on the left:
My mom, my grandma, Sarah(my sister), my Aunt Sue, Alex (her daughter), Adrianna, my Aunt Deb, my Grandma, Laura, my Aunt Lori, and my sister Jen.
My brother loves Michigan! My mom got Erika a tablecloth and dish towel for every holiday. I guess Michigan games are a holiday to Andrew!
Adrianna with soon-to-be Aunt Erika.

Adrianna and her big sister cousin Alex. They were great helpers at the shower. They helped pass out the leis, the games, and handed Erika her gifts.
They played so well together I wish they lived closer!

Loving my girls

Just counting my blessings!
It amazes me how different Adrianna and Eliza are.
Adrianna is happy but very thoughtful and serious. (Kind of like her mama!) She seems to be a deep thinker.
Eliza is a clown! I tell her to come here and she will turn around and walk backwards with an ornery look on her face. She is always smiling and making little jokes.
I wonder what the 3rd one will be like!

The disciples called the zoo!
Over the past few years I have been collecthing these Bible story cards in a tin so that I could use them with Adrianna. We have finally been able to start them! The first set we did was about the 12 disciples. There is the basic story, the cards turn into a puzzle, there is a picture to color, and a few activities.I remembered a cute song I learned in Sunday School and it has really helped her remember the names.
The original:
There were 12 disciples, Jesus called to help them
Simon Peter, Andrew, James, his brother John
Philip, Thomas, Matthew, James the son of Alpheaus
Thaddeaus, Simon, Judas, and Bartholomew.
He has called us too
He has called us too
We are his disiciples, I am one are you
He has called us too
He has called us too
We are his disiciples, I am one are you
Adrianna's version:
She sings the same verse and then her chorus goes like this:
He has called the zoo
He has called the zoo
We are his disciples, I am one are you
He has called the zoo
He has called the zoo
We are his disciples, I am one are you
Did you know that the disciples went to the zoo?:)
Eliza in the meantime is talking up a storm and cute as ever.
Her new obsession is planes and busses. She even hears planes overhead when we are inside!

Ultrasound Scheduled!
I had a Dr.'s appt. yesterday and my ultrasound is scheduled for July 9th! I am SO ANXIOUS to find out what this baby is so I'm trying not to think about the waiting.
My Doc had his PA come in first to try and find the heartbeat, which she could not find it. Then he came in and could not find it. At my last appt. at 12 weeks they couldn't find it either so they did an ultrasound. Everything was fine that time so I thought for sure they could find it at 16 weeks!
He used another Doppler and finally found it. Wow, I was trying not to let all sorts of scenerios go through my head! It was very quiet and faint but we did hear it!
Funny story..He asked me if I was doing any traveling and I told him that we were going to Detroit for 4th of July. He asked where and told me he used to live there for 15 years! He worked at Hutzel hospital which is where I was born, and he worked with the doctor that delivered me and all my siblings! It was before his time but he interned with Dr. Isaacs and then worked with him.
Small world!
I have to start an insulin pill twice a day. I didn't have to do insulin with Eliza until 26 weeks so this is way earlier. This pill has just recently been approved for use in pregnancy. We are hoping I can take this for a while and postpone the shots for as long as possible. I thought I was doing pretty well with my sugars but they have been creeping up on me. It was kind of disappointing that I have to start this early!
This is going to be a LOOONG pregnancy!
